Unfortunately, I seem to be a "face dancer" in real life but more authentic online. It should be the other way around. But online I won't get stabbed if some asshole doesn't like my authentic asshole personality.
Shooman, whether someone "crushes my skull" virtually or not, my life is rich enough without my being affected by on-line goings-on. And lest you think I have forgotten, though you may wish to be funny or theatrical, I remember some anti-semitic remarks of yours that I took quite literally, and this from someone who is not at all sensitive in this domain. For example, I do not find Iran's president particularly anti-semitic (though obviously no friend of the Jews). What you write in virtual reality is not real, but it can be offensive.
My main problem with the fora is that they are so ethno-centric/chauvinist in favor of Savile Row. I have described local tailoring traditions that are completely unexplored. The recent thread about someone's Slovakian suit is a good example. Everything is compared to what the Duke wore (for example), rather than looking at the local tailoring style. I am not trying to say that aesthetics in men's tailoring is strictly relativistic, but many individuals are ridiculously worshipful towards some ideal "Savile Row" style (or Neapolitan), which though important and influential, are only two amongst many. I remember a ridiculous back-and-forth about kissing buttons for example.
And am I the only one to notice that Alden's double-breasted coat (since I am letting everything hang out here), sewn to emulate the Duke, has the wrong button stance and lapels? I was critical of my tailor of the lapels (no roll) but even Alden's great secret Sicilian bomb did no better. And yet people continue to slam Eastern European tailors. Do you know how many Italian RTW garments are actually sewn in Romania? Marc criticized the false information on London Lounge, but what truly nauseates me is the sycophantic back and forth between Alden and its members. Terry and I don't always agree (I am not as smart as him alas), but he is the only one who has an opinion and expresses it.
