I suppose the English equivelant would be the Dunlop Greenflash
I recall being at prep school and for PE in the school gym- all that was allowed were black plimsols with a natural rubber sole and that great big elastic "u" on the vamp.
I couldn`t find my rugger boots one week and the games master made me play in my plimsols.
upon moving up to the main school dunop greenflash plimsols were allowed - so I have always associated that shoe with growing up and becoming one of the big boys.

The problem though, perhaps (but perhaps not) is that the white and the black are really the traditional colors. The navy blue is an abomination!
