Re: NeoPrep -

I'm not interested.  I'll tell you why.  All these kids today (like that poster) have no understanding of anything significant.  Their only frame-o'-reference is a pathetic train-wreck of brand-names.  They can't conceive of iconic items or basics in and of themselves but only as things relate to shops/stores, etc.

Re: NeoPrep -

Not my thing but -I certainly see the merits of it`s honest approach to the concept.

Perhaps if trad had been named something like Tradicle the merging of a traditional look by peole who hadn`t grown up with the look -and it therefore being a radicle departure from what they knew- it would have left it self less open to -tradicule.

Re: NeoPrep -

^ Absolutely.

NeoPrep, like AAAT is nothing to do with our Tom's world.

NeoPrep honestly says it's something new.
AAAT only just now is coming around to doing the same.

There IS room for it all. "Trad", "NeoPrep", "Preppy", "WASP", "Ivy League" style and room for what is probably best of all - Tom's unaffected clothes as they were worn in New England.

We just need to know what's what & be honest about it.

(The SF 'NeoPrep' thread is rolling on & is worth a read again this morning, btw)

Best -

Speaking of neoprep, I was looking through the latest J Crew catalogue last night.
They have some very nice things, not much quanitity, but nice. The wrinkled look.

The female models are extremely gamine, too.

Re: NeoPrep -

I honestly think that NeoPrep sits along side "Trad" very well.

Two different Ivy-influenced takes on Classic American style for two different demographics TODAY.

And the "Trad" / NeoPrep overlap of chaps like the great Brownshoe is a very interesting area too.

More good stuff on all this on SF again this morning. Worth a read.

Re: NeoPrep -

Good musings over there.  Ol' Brown makes me think that I should give some of the newer purveyors a look.

The smooth flight of NeoPrep on SF is encountering a little turbulence from those with their own agendas to pursue today...

Preacher: The only game is to start talking about different ways to look at the same old thing, and wait until Brownshoe drops in and posts a good summary of the issue, including a practical interpretation. Then it's officially over and legit. That's the only game, if there is one.

Re: NeoPrep -

Why isn't this debate on AAAT?

Why is this debate only really carried on by AAAT members via PM?

Problem?

????
