Re: WHY are you wearing...?

i was going to say i'm doing simple today but that's nothing new.  Perhaps then just more of the same:

Minnetonka moccasins, new – I’m not going out today
Inherited Bills khakis M1, cuffed and slightly frayed
Forest green Shetland sweater over a navy tee
no belt no socks

(see uncle Russell I do wear tees sometimes)

^ A very nice 'at home' look.

What are the Mocs.? - A new name to me.

You've inherited a lot of nice things I've noticed over the past few months. I like that. Clothing with a personal history & a soul.

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

They're some mocs I bought at a local store...i googled and found their website:

http://www.minnetonkamoccasinshop.com/

i just have a pair of slippers to wear around the house.  the store is an old ex-hippy place that also sells south American weavings and alpaca sweaters.

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

Sometimes you just look out of the window of a morning, and the rain alone answers 'why'...

Rubber-soled black jodhpur boots, waterproofed with lots of vile black dubbin and Kiwi.
Lovat green kilt hose.
Rolled-up dark jeans.
Ribbed arran coloured cotton poloneck.
Big old waxed cotton jacket, almost knee-length.
Black flat cap, black brolly.

Just not one of those days for suede footwear and light coloured trousers!

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

Loafing about the house today.

In deference to the snows yesterday, I'm wearing a polo tucked into a beat-up pair of LE chinos, a shaggy JPress sweater over it, and a pair of Bean hunting boots (with socks, much to the surprise of my feet).  We'll be up to 38 today; I'll shed the socks and go back to my Sperrys when it's time to get the kids this afternoon.

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

It's Friday, so as our friend Will would advise, I've hauled out a Friday suit.  It's my very-American-but-not-quite-Ivy suit.  Black and White POW plaid with a light blue overcheck.  Lots of the American details like lapped seams and a hooked vent.  Patch pockets aloft and alow.  Darted, though.  Couldn't quite bring myself to go the sack route when I had it made.  Single pleats on the pants, too with flaps on the back pockets just to look more casual.  For whatever frivolous reason, I think of it as my American in Paris suit.

The shirt is a blue bengal stripe but it has fallen to what the Trads consider le vice anglais:  cutaway collar and double cuffs.  The latter are held together by the little silver tiki men from Trader Vic's that are my tasteless daily companions during the work week.

The tie is a simple, solid burgundy twill.  It's neither very wide nor very heavily lined, so the Albert knot I tried first looked really preposterous with the shirt collar.  So, I'm sporting a big honking full windsor.  Hell, it's fun to be naff once in awhile.  Makes me feel like Prince Michael of Kent.  Only without the title.  Or the whiskers.  Or the height.  Alright, I'm completely unjustified in feeling like Prince Michael of Kent but there it is, damn your eyes!

White linen pocket napkin.  Sorry Horace, I know you don't like 'em, but you never can tell when you might have a spontaneous pocket picnic.  I'm not sure I know just what I mean by that, but Cheeky Monkey probably does.

I've got bright yellow braces on just because no one can tell me not to.  The old dogs are sporting shell gunboats from Alden because we're going to get a lot of rain today in the Sticks.

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

Watery sunshine outside, Spring is in the air, so I'm starting the week on a light (coloured) note smile

Sand desert boots, grey/black/brown argyles, very washed out old khakis, sand suede belt.
White/light grey striped shirt, cuffs 'barrelled' with dark brown silk knots, navy wool knitted tie.
The tie is ostensibly in honour of a colleague's 40th birthday today; I'll jump at any excuse!
Navy v-neck, black and white wool houndstooth scarf and beige Harrington on top.

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

Those little supply lines are evil, eg.  The one to the ice maker in my fridge went about a month ago.  Luckily I was home at the time and shut off the water but fast.  My secretary's went just before Christmas and she had the great flood, too.

Grab a Shop-Vac and suck up everything you can.

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

Dark brown Clarks walking shoes, black wool socks, DS-brown cord jeans, black polo shirt under navy wool v-neck, hip-length beige raincoat and dark red/green wool challis scarf. Plain black GMT watch, now on poseurish 'James Bond' NATO-strap. Black brolly.
Pissing it down today, really. How I look forward to shorts-and-sandals weather.

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

What a day: Force 11 gales and torrential rain forecast. Another week of walking 'til I have my license again.
So: Clarks walking shoes (black penny loafers in waterproof messenger bag, to change into at work), grey socks. Faded red canvas jeans (thin, so they'll dry quicker!), navy BD, same navy v-neck as almost every day.
Helly Hansen sailing jacket ('oyster' and navy, 'Age 16', there would still be room for two more jackets underneath), freebie Sunseeker baseball cap in navy and beige.
