Photo was taken at a juke joint just outside Clarksdale, Mississippi circa 1938.
Great just as a photo, looks like lots of fun being had. Interesting too for the clothes, the woman in what looks like a vague approximation of riding clothes and the guy in the loose, casual jacket and trousers and the hat worn with a certain amount of insouciance.
Shows too the always 'uptown' stylings of the black community at the time. When blues scholars first found a picture of the great singer Charley Patton they were surprised that he wasn't wearing his cotton picking dungarees but had a sharp suit on. But it made sense. First money he got from his records, straight down to get some sharp threads.
