Presumably, you're considering G&G RTW shoes, in which case I'd suggest you draw an outline of your feet and send to them, if you can't meet with them, so they can decide which last is best for you.
l really think that's the best thing to do. Good suggestion Marc, even better is that Tony can tell me about E.G sizing too. l better get my photocopier working....l have feet to do! l'll take a photocopy and then indicate the length-points at which l measure my foot-girth.
Pity the brogue wasn't navy instead of brown.

I envy anyone who can order shoes and get the fit right without a try on, but that seems to be the standard of care in the luxe shoe business.
For what it's worth, I wear an Allen Edmonds 7C in the number 5 last, with a very good fit. No longer made.
I have an Edward Green 5E in the 202 last, which is painful, and represents three attempts including the relastings, and now collects dust. Their 5 1/2 D (their choice of size and width) with a $100 special order surcharge was returned to them as unwearable. This company should not be patronized. The worst run business I have seen in some time.
I have a Gaziano & Girling 5E in the smart round last, which is not bad, and was chosen by Tony after seeing the EG 5E and how they fit on me. Possibly the G&G is a bit narrow on me, but it is in the right ball park.
Vass, putative custom last, came with a 38 shoe tree, it is a superb fit.

How much are Gaziano and Girling shoes? I mean the custom ones too.
Hey, Shooman. I remember reading this thread ages ago and was struck by the fact that we both wear exactly the same size in different makes. I've been considering G&G RTW/MTO myself and was wondering if you did end up contacting them and how it all went. Mostly importantly what size do you take in G&G lasts?
BTW I take UK 8D for my size in Oxford shoes in the 202, 606 and 88 lasts. I guess I could wear 7.5E but these lasts run short so I tend to go up a size and down a width.

For what it is worth, EG 202 in 5E (sic) sold to me by the in house experts of EG is completely unwearable, this after the 5 1/2 F was similarly unwearable. THE G&G 5E is perfect in their smart round last (not that round by the way). I wore the EG 5E for Tony to see, and he was confident the G&G 5E would be correct for me. He was right.

I concur with The_Shoeman. Even so called "experts" of EG provide no assurance of a fit. Yet, they add a $100 surcharge for the false ceremony of tracing your foot. Oh, they can re-last, and so on. Break it in, wear it a bit, etc. G&G provide a very personalized service, and more important, unlike EG, they would like you to be happy with your expensive purchase. EG has perfected a sleight of hand sales technique, when you purchase thru a 'retailer.' They stick the hapless retailer with the wholesale cost of the shoe if you return it, and feign confusion about the terms. Even if you buy from them directly, you are subject to improbable errors, see Will's blog on the repetitive mistakes by EG on his shoes alone. Why would anyone tolerate this at these prices?
