Re: AHAT: First post - American sociology and the Trad

I really like Tom22's posts about trad.  i was not born trad and not born rich, quite the contrary the poor black sheep relations to rich old family.  yeah everyone knows the family name but not that it relates to me.  fortunately i have a relation who has taken me in and is giving me clothes which i could never afford and has even taken me shopping at Brooks Brothers.  i'll never know the manners or confidence of rish folks.  maybe i should say trad folks, but that word is so loaded.  the clothes to me are what the good members of the family wear - it has little to do with what class they are - thought they do have money and connections.  maybe i want to dress like them (trad) just to feel better about myself and to forget where i come from.  it's just i know i will always be the kid who is ready to fight and cuss and no matter how hard i try i'll never be a gentleman - LOL - i do like it that gentlemen are not so looked upto here.  i guess trad for me is Kraft mac and cheese for dinner with a glass of Coke if we were good.

You love him? He is hephaistion.
