Purely a POV from England:
I am of a lower social class to the rest of my family and also have less money due to the various choices I have made in my life...
However -
I have more disposable income and more free time than they have because I do not maintain a respectable lifestyle.
This may just be a quirk of the English class system.
Could you pull this off in the US?

Also important to remember that everyone has two social classes: the one that others perceive and their real one. Tradity would seem to wedge these as far apart as tenable - and then a bit more.
