Gingham Shirts!

Any other fans?

Ivy, Moddy, SkinStyle, Anglo, French, even "Trad" if you walk that way.

Brooks & Press have stocked them on & off since I've known the companies.

Great dressed down, great dressed up.

Any sized check.

... A 'Vichy' check they call it in France, I learned last week...

I'm wearing a lot of them just now: Press, Bean, Arrow.

A perfect Spring / Summer shirt IMVHO.

What say you?

J.

Re: Gingham Shirts!

Gingham checks are the most versatile shirts short of solid white or blue IMO.

Re: Gingham Shirts!

I picked up the red and the blue gingham dress shirts from Press recently.  Very nice.  And I do feel a little like a walking table cloth in the red.

I also picked up the blue gingham from Press a month or so ago. It's probably my favorite patterned shirt. Looks great with a knit tie. Can be dressed up or down. Loads of color options--I'd like to have a yellow one, personally.

Re: Gingham Shirts!

I always liked gingham shirts from the tiniest sort to the very large checks. I like them on a white backgroundwhere the checks are blue, from navy to a sky color, red, pink, lilac or purple. Grey looks bad and black has very limited uses (maybe as a formal shirt's bib front.)

I like em on broadcloth, also in 2 color schemes on a white background, pink/blue etc.. I even like the "tonal" ones that have hotter pink on a paler pink background.

Re: Gingham Shirts!

I love gingham shirts and sort of collect them.  I also like the red and blue ones from Press.  The red looks great with a black knit tie.

I'm looking around for a blue with a larger scale, but not too large...tricky.

Re: Gingham Shirts!

I like checks a lot but I prefer the more sophisticated (read complicated) ones, mainly for the same reason as Mike, but many people in the UK love them and they are a bit of a classic over here

Re: Gingham Shirts!

Another fan of gingham here. Such a fresh look. Multicoloured, oversize ginghams can look particularly smart.
Apart from the classic blue micro-gingham, I've never been brave enough to pair them with a tie though.

Gingham for me too. Mostly blues but I would not mind a pink version.

Re: Gingham Shirts!

I quite like the thought that Tattersalls are for Autumn/Winter & Gingham is for Spring/Summer along with the usual suspects (Madras/Seersucker).

... I must do a Tattersall thread in the Autumn!

Saw these today:

Seersucker Gingham checks. Functional, trashable stuff for the Summer.

And they do a Yellow for Archie.

The 'white' gingham looks intriguing.
They do seem to have dropped the 'small' sizing on their shirts, which is a bit of an annoyance.
