I am not going to go into a debate that men should always wear a necktie to work with a shirt and tie. But rather I find it incredible that men would want to. It cant be more comfortable with your collar flopping around than having it secured by a necktie. I say this because I see a lot of men in such an outfit. And the suits and shirts are good quality. Therefore it cant be a matter of economy.
I understand that most men buy their shirt collars about an inch too small and they may be sick of being choked. But why do they buy expensive suits and shirts and go tieless? Are they fooling someone that theyre still dressed for business?
I could see this for evening but why would you want to start the day off looking like youve already had it rough or were about to be social over a drink?
Multiple reasons, I'd guess.
Someone influential starts wearing a suit without a necktie, and everyone copies him. Same as how not buttoning the bottom button on a jacket started out with someone influential being too fat to button theirs.
Some places of business have dress codes that are tie-hostile.
Sometimes it's too damn hot, and a person needs all the ventilation they can get.
Maybe they slept on the couch in the office and forgot where they put it?
