I think you might be missing an important point.  The founder of one of the great Italian Sartorias said "I make imperfect suits to fit imperfect bodies."  The judgement that truly matters most is how the suit fits on the the body of the person for whom it is made.  Handmade stitches are NOT supposed to be in a straight line.  They are crafted to pull layers together to drape depending on the curve of a body and varies from shoulder to collar to lapel etc.  That is really what makes them superior to machine sewn garments.

In my own small collection I have suits from Kiton, Attolini, Brioni, and Oxxford.  All of them have merits and I can truly see art in each one.  I like the cut and style of Attolini the best but all of them are extremely fine quality.

A local tailor may let their own interests in selling you one of their bespoke suits cloud their opinion of these great Sartorias.
