(Obviously I'm thinking of 'Trane here, not Ms. Andrews...)
This might be a nice thread if anyone feels like joining in -
I'll go first to get the ball rolling -
Me being me, my short random list will be a little bit CAD:
So... A few of my favourite things (In no order):
1) Clothes that have LIVED with me. Old chino shorts with sand in the back pockets from fooling around on the beach, etc. I love the autobiographical aspect of my wardrobe...
2) Old muted Madras - Especially half sleeve shirts. Sun bleached is best. Buy them 2BD and use the spare buttons provided to make them 3BD. Nice.
3) Blue/White University stripe OCBDs - Various makers. I just love these shirts.
4) Grey Herringbone Sack Jackets - 3 to 2, natural shoulder. Great with flannels, great with Bills. Runner-up is a nice Sandy-Brown Herringbone.
5) Those "Buffalo Creek Traders", "Genuine Virginia Handsewns" - Scotchgrain Penny loafers in soft-as-butter leather. They cost NOTHING (£49? If that) from J. Simons back in the late 80s. Never seen them since. Probabaly my favourite shoes.
No snob value, just tons and tons of Ivy charm.
6) Slim-ish knitted ties - Silk, Wool, Cotton. Plain, striped, or with little 'ticks' sewn in a bit like an old Bean Norwegian sweater. Any maker. Press are currently favourite.
7) My new discovery - The Slack Jacket - So cool, so relaxed, so hip. Slope-y shouldered and chilled-out.
8) An old Grey Sack Suit - Mine are Press. To be worn when they need to be worn.
3 to 2, you know how it goes...
9) That Grainy-Blue Brooks OCBD. BD Baggies do quite a nicely similar blue, but they just aint Brooks. The Brooks Pink is runner-up for me. Both perfect.
10) The G9. Could be 'Baracuta', could be a lesser name. Just classic and, for me, an old friend. I love the look of a G9 collar over a BD collar over a plain white T.
Old Levis or Bills below. Relaxed, happy clothes!
What's on your list?
Miles
Edit: My list was Classic American Dressing (CAD), your list can be Dandy, Italian, Anglophile, whatever you like for whoever you are.
The idea of the thread is just 'What stuff do you really like'?
Hey, might be a fun idea!!! ;-)

Dear Old Miles!
There's something so... 'romantic' (in the literary sense) about posts like these...
I quite like ideas like this so I'll add:
Old Shetland sweaters which smell of wood smoke evoking quiet nights spent beside log fires just talking.
Slightly frayed Seersucker shorts with an old faded pink patch on one leg where you were once a little careless with a Bloody Mary.
Anything salt stained that's been with you down to the coast.
Tweed jackets that you've lived in so much that even dry cleaning can't destroy the way they've moulded themselves to you and the distinctive slightly slouchy way you stand.
Feel free to join the fun here or do something else instead. There might be something good on TV...
