Today I see that Long Suffering Trad has a great "notebook" page with sketch, just outstanding and a unique personal style. Plus Bulldog has found some stunning Weejun advertisements that prove (to my surprise) that the shoes have not changed at all for several decades.

Continuous Lean has a link to this blog about the ampersand. Love some of those photos of old signs:
http://ampersand.gosedesign.net/
CL also has a blog entry on the "dock worker." In addition the clothes, I imagine some of you Brits, given your preferred port of entry, are fans of the rough trade.
A very good eye, that Lean.
Interesting observation on the old Port of Entry, H. I recall you waxing nicely about The ol' Harvard/Dockhand scene in the past too. A book of photos is there not?
That t'was it! Thanks.
I know that certain brands like Carhartt at J. Simons (was he the first in the UK to stock it?) had big Gay appeal in with the mix of Americana and Ivy League in his shop... And so you can indeed play with that link between rugged workwear & Da Boys over here.
We welcome everybody in London.
A very even-handed look at Trolling, FNB & The Trad here on Tucker's Blog:
http://tnsil.blogspot.com/2008/05/trolling-and-trad-star.html
I pop up in the comments section & I do think that as a resource FNB is really under-used by the posters on the big forums. I see FNB as a great asset, a place for them to be able to say things which would get them into trouble elsewhere.
There is still moderation here, but because it's not a commercial site we do have the freedom to push things a little bit further & experiment a little bit more.
Not really 'better' than the other sites, just really different. That's the point of us.
IMO.
J.

Here's another clothing blog l found from ole Sleevehead.

Chums, I present The Preppy Princess: http://thepreppyprincess.wordpress.com/
A nice pair of vintage Dexter's (of Maine) pebble-grained wingtips.

^ Some shots I'd not seen B4.
This caught my attention:
http://thetrad.blogspot.com/2008/06/ralph-lauren-marine-corps.html
And this:
http://thetrad.blogspot.com/2008/05/ralph-lauren-and-us-army.html
Is it fair to say that for Ralph this stuff is all pretty much of a muchness? (Do you have that expression in America?)
A Regimental tie, a unit's badge... Why not a pair of boxers with the Presidential seal on the back too?
Somewhere there is a line between the iconic images we can play with and those which are in poor taste or even offensive.
Any thoughts?
^ They all seem to have bought the same tie, too.
How many ties does one man need?
One for every day of the year?
