What can I say?
There's a suss here which you won't find elsewhere.
Cool.
Never been a fan of dessies....for a similar approach I'd rather wear a cool pair of loafers without socks
Desert boots are great in Summer. Not much support - but they do keep your feet cool.
Clarks in the UK no longer seem to stock them.
I got a pair from Clifford James in Ripley( pensioner heaven). I do not think they do them any longer. They get it all wrong by offering something similar with a padded collar. That just will not due. Detail is everything.
I do not understand any type of suede footwear with a leather sole either. Crepe sole for desert boots of course.
I've been very happy with the Peal desert boots I got. I should have gotten 2 pairs.
At the price of the Peal desert boots, you damn well should be happy with them, even when they were marked down to $220 or whatever they were. I was tempted at the lower price but decided to pass. I have the A-E Stanford chukka, which is pretty darn close.
Anybody know for sure where the current Clark's Desert Boots are made? I had heard Slovenia, but some iGents have said China.

Yanks often mix up Dessies with Chukkas - Very different things.
Desert boots are about £20 on the internet. Clarks are available on Amazon UK for £69 - but they are not even in the right colour. Hundreds of dollars is way out of line.
