I too thought that the hipster came into England from Minet Paris & those French sailor's trousers via John Stephens.
Interesting post.
There's a lot of funny stuff written about the 60's. In Twiggy's biog she says that The Beatles were the Mod's music.
The Ivy rise is indeed kinda high-ish traditionally. Not sure about the Ivy hipster - Something new for me to think about there... !
