Re: that New wave Movie look

^Love Jean Seberg's hair cut, very elfin. Who's the girl walking into the water, Catherine Deneuve..? The bloke in the shades has a look of Jean-Paul Belmondo.

Re: that New wave Movie look

I would gladly part with a testicle to wake up next to Jean Seberg.
How fucking cool is Belmondo?  In Pierrot Le Fou (I think Godard's best film), he wears this very slim 3-button light blue seersucker with high water trou and (if i'm not mistaken) driving loafers.  Man could act as well.

Incidentally, has anyone tried to talk with a cigarette just dangling ever so gently from the lips?  It's harder than the Nouvelle Vague makes it look.

Great thread.
Not much related, but I watched the original 'Alfie' again last night. Some nice knit ties & Button-downs in that film.

Ahhhhh - I get you & I agree. Ivy must have been quite the look in London in '65 - The same year JS opened up his Ivy Shop too.

Re: that New wave Movie look

great thread!

as much of a doll Anna Karina was, the nod goes to Jean Seberg as hottest Godard babe

not having seen a Godard film in a while (need to pop in a couple dvds) I do remember there were always lines referencing some sort of sartorial code that the reciter believed in, and was perhaps admonishing some other character for it.  Quick scenes, and easy to miss, but I always found them amusing and impressed that it was written into the script

It's not totally realistic but I love this era of movies because many of the characters are supposed to be "edgy" and "cool" and yet they're still sprinting up and down hills and shooting people all while wearing loafers.

Re: that New wave Movie look

Lewis, I havent seen the film, and I dont know anyone that's seen the whole movie either.....but I'll be sure to get it just for the sake of it.

I'm sure it will be tons better than the 40 min short film "American Mod" that came out in 2000 or so (about a group of NYC mods trying to score some super duper speed called "cake")

There's also an "American Skingirl" movie supposedly in the works which I'm sure will be a great comedy
