Just returned from a short break in Cornwall with my wife, Glorious weather, fabulous beaches .
I never realised how magnificent the english coastline could be.
Newquay is total surf town, board shops, vw camper vans, buggies even a few hotrods about.
And Fistral Beach full of surfers young and old, from all over the place Brits, aussies, europeans.
What really caught my eye was the abundance of Surfwear clothing outlets, All the big U.S. names and the fastly
expanding british makes also.
Its total DRESS DOWN for obvious reasons , shorts , t shirts, sandals, pumps. swimwear and bodysuits.
A big Californian influence on the Beach look for summer, some of the clothing is very expensive, and frankly I was totally overwhelmed by just how big this look/scene has become in the U.K.
Back in the 70,s it was a handfull of devotees that flocked to SKEJACK Surf camp to ride the waves, in Cornwall
beach hippy types.
Now a substantial amount of kids are into the scene , and the old traditions of dressing up seem to be almost dead for UKs teenagers.
Cheap high street tat, and designer surf influenced styles are winning through.
Even paul Smith wants into the surfing act:
