Re: Ivy League style for today

Very 'classic' casual attire (kinda 'cliche' maybe, but I like it):
Natural Baracuta G9, black with yellow piping Fred Perry, Blue indigo LVC 501 1947 XX, grey ribbed cotton socks, sand Clark's dessies.
Persol 649.
Leaving to the beautiful Tuscan countryside this afternoon. Planned a relaxing weekend with friends and a scooter ride on the Umbria hills, so no need of 'formal' gear:
in the bag, a short sleeve tartan mtm 3bd shirt from DNA, a unistriped oxford 3bd from BB (I'm one of those who bought it uncounsciously inspired by Big John Patton's "The Way I Feel" sleeve, or maybe not too uncounsciously by Graham Marsh's preface to "The Cover art of Blue Note" ;-) ), white/blue beefy cotton t-shirt, another FP , a pair of vintage Levi's staprest in tan needlecord and brown suede driving mocassins.
60s style jet helmet in silver grey, googles and yellow driving gloves in deerskin.

Ummmm... Pat?

If you check the 'Help Desk' thread you'll see that we're all up to all sorts of stuff at the moment...

I'd love you to be a part of it all, especially with your background pre-Space Camp.

The idea is to lift all this up above the MBs & forums and create a space for fans of Classic Traditional American style like US.

It will be like nothing on this subject on the Internet so far since '04. No egos & no internet MB 'personalities'. The style itself will be the star.

PM or email as you choose.

No BS here. I love all this & I want to gather all the true fans of OUR style together. The fans will then run the dedicated, stand-alone, Classic Traditional American Style site based on their own enthusiasms alone.

Brothers beneath the Button-down.

I also need to talk to a load of other chaps (In no order) - Longwing, Bulldog, Tintin, Alden Pyle, East Village Trad, and on & on & on... We all know the list...

Can those interested in all this also talk to their friends too please?

Time is against me all the time just now.

All that I'm currently talking about IS happening. Make it yours too.

Trad & Talk Ivy will carry on along with all our blogs. This next move is to add more to what we are doing in a different format. It's the next level. Phase Three.

Best -

Jim

Re: Ivy League style for today

mine today, no meetings, just working on some s''t at my office / study so going casual (as mostly):

a navy/red/yellow/off-white madras(esque) check 3 bd (gant), beige sta-prest-esque trousers (off high street), black belt, red socks (falke), plain black lace-ups (barker), red g 9, rather overgrown (seventies / smoothie-like) barnet, already awaiting my babrber appointment on the 16th, about to have it cut into the college boy style.

tomorrow's a meeting day w/ a client so will go less casual, not full suited and booted though as it's not expected  the business i work in. still thinking about tomorrows threads.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I've got a nasty hangover going.  Managed to crawl into a cream/blue seersucker suit and a blue OCBD.  I may have to be at the office, but at least I can feel like I'm still in pyjamas.

Re: Ivy League style for today

today:

Band of Outsiders pale blue with navy/white stripe OCBD
Unis NYC slim fitting khakis with 2" cuff, cut slightly highwater (about 1" above no break)
Jcrew red socks
Paul Smith red-burgundy tassel loafer

needles to say, my interest in 'ivy' style is made of modern brands (fit me better) rather than vintage or "classic" companies still in business (tend to not fit me at all without major alteration)

^ That's Cool.

Ivy is only a style. It has a past, a present & a future. Mixed in with all that are many manifestations of The Look...

The 30's looked different to the 50's & the 50's looked different to today.

You belong, don't worry! wink

(Funny thought - As if Jason was ever worried about his look!)

Re: Ivy League style for today

^^ cool man

I've found that for me, I like "Ivy style" when it comes to casual wear, but when it comes to suit/tie I actually prefer the more structured "Continental" look that's Italian, mixed with some Anglomania, which were all ultimately trying to copy Americana a bit and got thrown into a blender.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Great pics guys!

I'm in the same stuff as usual - Clarks, argyles, chinos, Brooks shirt and tweed sack.
12 year old black Nissan (more punk than Ivy, held together with Hammerite and 100-mile-an-hour tape) on top of all that for the daily trip to work.

J. Kleinbauer, indeed!  Judd is very good to work with.  Otherwise, it's all online or road trips.
