By that, I mean when did you dress up when you knew in advance nobody else would be dressed up, or that it might even be inappropriate to dress up? For me, I went to the local dog run over the weekend and wore a brown houndstooth sport coat with tan twill trousers and chocolate brown suede chukkas. The only concession made to the venue was a denim shirt, though worn with a necktie. Stood out like a sore thumb, but escaped the fate of being used as a human tree by the dogs.
I think I tend to do this more often than not.
Odd times, I will need to drop into the office on the weekend to work on something urgent. I am almost always the only one who shows up with a sportcoat, leather soles, and long trousers.
If I walk over to the local Starbucks to smoke a cigar and have a cup of coffee, I will usually at least wear a khaki sportcoat or in the fall, a heavier wool sportcoat, along with corduroy trousers or chinos (although almost never khaki chinos). My one concession for leisure pursuits is I will sometimes wear boots, whether they be chelsea, chuka, or some other boot.
I honestly don't understand men who walk into restaurants with nasty toes sticking out of mandals. Its enough to put me off my food.
Every day I go to work. I know that nobody else, including the president of the company, will be there in coat and tie.
I am usually nude, but I don my furs when I come on this forum.
I am always over dressing. Screw everyone else if they dont like it.
l was always taught as a boy to get dressed up whenever l would visit the city or the airport. So l always wear a good suit and accessories when shopping in the city, and l always dress up when l pick people up from the airport.

l remember one Sunday afternoon in the city. l was dressed to the nines and making my way to seeing a Classical music performance. On my way there, l passed a bloke giving a big speech to hundreds of people. This bloke stopped his speech and started talking to me (still on his microphone in front of hundreds of people) and telling me how well dressed l was and saying "don't you agree ladies and gentlemen?". lt took me by surprise and l turned very red, l didn't know what to say. l'm never stuck for words often, but this time l was.

I work in politics and wearing a tie is considered over-dressing in the Westminster village. I therefore "over-dress" most days.
Everyday, I should think.
Got dressed up to go for a walk in the park this arvo. Tweed coat, bowtie, pocketsquare, tan captoe shoos...the lot! lt was a nice day so l felt like it.
Had this kid about 10 say "good afternoon sir". l said in a plush English gentlemans voice , "good afternoon young man" as l went about my way. l greeted about 10 people on my walk.

last summer I did make the mistake of wearing a suit and tie to a bar-b-q place because I thought the group was going out to nice bars afterwards. However, no one else got the memo and they were all in t shirts/tanks and flip flops/sneakers. I did finally take off my tie.

Had an interesting night. Visited an old mate l hadn't seen in a while. After getting to his residence, he suggested going out for a few hours. l had no idea where he was taking me, but he ended up visiting a very ordinary establishment. lt's off the side of the highway and lots of truckies, labourers, and locals visit the place. These people are all blokes.....blokey blokes. These blokes were all in overalls, jeans, tracksuit pants, workboots, sneakers etc.
The moment l entered the establishment, l knew it was going to be interesting. l was dressed in nice trousers, Church's monks, beautiful woolen coat, pocketsquare, ASCOT , lovely blue shirt. l just took a big breath in the carpark (before going in) and after that, l didn't care less. l chatted to all the blokes and had a good laugh with all of them. l wasn't affected by my clothes (l was competely comfortable) and no-one really seem to be bothered by it.
