Would be great to do that course. But since i'm over the other side of the world, i'm forced to learn to make one myself. l've been watching all the shoo making videos and have read the Vass book until it makes complete sence. Firstly i'm going to learn to hand welt, resole and stitch by hand by practising on old shoes. l'll make the tools l need. l'd like to make and manipulate a leather upper, but l think this would be the hardest part. l can get all my materials locally.

Once you become confident in your craft, have you given any thoughts to what your first project will be?
I will be very interested in seeing pics of your handiwork as it progresses, please share! I inquired about touring the Johnston and Murphy factory located in Nashville (a city I travel to for business monthly), but alas, was rebuffed! I was thoroughly disappointed, but have not given up hope yet.
I wonder if it is the last remaining operation of its kind located in the south?
