The Ryder Cup sartorial horror show

http://www.rydercup.com/2008/europe/multimedia/photogallery/index.html

The Gala Dinner is a real shocker - peak lapel DJs with normal dress shirts and black neckties.

http://www.rydercup.com/2008/usa/multimedia/photogallery/index.html

Notch lapels, dress shirts and satin neckties. The Yanks also wore round collars with lounge suits for the presentation ceremony.

They make the Olympic teams look classy!

Re: The Ryder Cup sartorial horror show

Bishop, the sartorial element is the least embarrassing part of the whole thing.

I only watched the highlights on Sunday but Europe were well and truly tonked.

Faldo got stick because he was never nice to people on his way to the top. He is still in good shape though, so he will always look presentable.

Re: The Ryder Cup sartorial horror show

I suspect that the personal abuse by the home rednecks may have got to the less experienced Europeans. Lee Westwood was subjected to vile personal abuse and others have commented about similar incidents in previous matches. I agree about Faldo and like his straight talking.

The rednecks probably the same morons who also chant "get in the hole", you're the man", "U-S-A U-S-A" etc. You should have seen the face on one fat redneck at the Belfry a few years. When he yelled "get in the hole", I looked at wife and said "naw, I don't want syphilis".

Westwood was the only one complaining this time, as far as I am aware.

'Boo' was for the US player who has that nickname.

Re: The Ryder Cup sartorial horror show

There is a high profile black tie event called the `Brownlow Medal' in Australia. l don't expect much from footballers, but still.......
http://www.droppunt.com/2008_brownlow_fashions.htm

Shawl collar without satin     yikes   (true, l saw one)
Tuxedo's without the silk/satin finishes
Peak lapel tuxedo's worn with open neck blue shirts
Long black ties worn with tuxedo's
Grubby faced plebs in tuxedo's
Pointy cheap grubby shoes that are so long, they look like ski's. Worn with a tux.

l watch the show every year (on and off), and every single year l always feel like shooting my t.v set. These guys have No idea.

An increasing number of these thugs/louts are falling foul of the law too. The AFL are very protective of there players because of the big money in the game now. These guys get drunk/drugged, bash people in nightclubs and get away with it because everything is covered up now. All they are required to do is apologise and go to rehab and it's forgotten about. 3 strikes and your out. That's the policy.

Re: The Ryder Cup sartorial horror show

Here is the beautiful Rebecca Twigley at the 2004 black tie event with her clueless boyfriend:
http://www.droppunt.com/brownlow2004.htm

She's a real hottie.

lf you go through the links, you'll see lots of square toe shoes, and probably lots of fake 2 foot long pooey brown alligator/lizard skin shoes as well. Yes, they wear the multi coloured fake lizard shoes with their tuxedo's.

Good eye,

Very nice indeed.  Almost belongs in the Just Because thread for wider distribution.

Re: The Ryder Cup sartorial horror show

Wow, that is truly horrible.  He looks like a bricklayer who won tickets to the event by purchasing a 6 pack of Victoria Bitter that had the winning number printed on the bottom of the can.

Are those white sneakers?  They work well with the color of his spiky mullet.
