Great input form all sorts of guys from all sorts of directions. VERY 'Talk Ivy'.
See? These guys ARE out there. You just have to go & chat to people. We now have Ivy style in the North West of England & in the Midlands.
It's not just London over here after all.
I love Lord Dunsby's pics and his manner. No 'Trad' he. Ditto StephenD & Axelist. Also there's a guy called Cliffo on the PM service over there with a very good eye for all this & a mind which keeps ticking over evaluating everything.
OUR world is bigger than we know!

I'm pleasantly surprised at Steve's photo contribution, as he always seemed a bit anti-purist gear, but he's def the man in that thread

Alright, I didn't want to mess up the Soho Split thread any further so I thought I use this one instead. I reference to what I mentioned about pondering to what extent the Ivy scene was seperated from the Mod thing in general. Made me think of a comment from Kingstonian ( I think ) about the different silhouette of the full cut shirt as opposed to the slimfitting BS button-down. A more mature take on things one could say and a subtle way of distancing oneself from a certain element that had crept into ( or crapped on ) that great concept of Modernism.
There would have been several ways to achieve this ( setting yourself apart a bit ) but one of them would certainly have been going back to the deepest root of Modernism, the IL style. If people had left it in the first place that is. As KR put it so nicely in his essay The Great Lost Look : "In 1968 (you) would see the occasional guy who had this subtle American look". Fascinating stuff....
Shame the updating of the JS site has resulted in removing some pics. Young adults sporting the IL look during the late 60s ( group one still there mind you ). Where some true Modernists went etc ( whilst others had just arrived there at the same time, being somewhat younger but no less intrigued by it all ).
