Re: For your consideration

You clearly know how to look smart and well put-together, and have a sophisticated sense of style.  I like the top outfit the most and think the jacket, in particular, fits most flatteringly.  Not sure if it's the lighting or my computer monitor, but, the shoulders in the second and third coat appear somewhat irregular.  Thanks for sharing and enjoy your threads.  Best wishes on your career.

Re: For your consideration

Nice Jackets!

I agree with Marc. If those were my jackets, I would ask for a reworking of the shoulders. Have you noticed how the front of the human shoulder is relatively bony and devoid of flesh (around the clavicles)? Ideally, jackets would stick and conform to this hollow area. If you get them reworked to do so, your jackets would find the stable fulcrum they can hang from and become more comfortable and look better.

The lapels on the 2nd and 3rd jackets overpower your chest. I think that to wear F**-you lapels like these and appear balanced you ought to have a wider upper body.

I am not a fan of the narrow trouser cuffs because they can't balance the size of the shoe and because with their requisite amount of break you end up showing too much sock when walking (personal preference).

Great idea to get rid of the second front button. The second button should appear as you can barely button it ("kissing the buttonhole"), and, with the highly opened quarters of typical Neapolitan jackets, the button and hole would appear silly -- too far apart from each other.

Best-

The single-button jackets do indeed look great, much less fussy. I prefer the more relaxed look in the first pic, you look a lot more at home in that.

Re: For your consideration

These look a lot better than the first one, 'fan. Well done. I'd make the suit pants a little longer ( sort of looks vaguely "Thom Browne"-ish). Disagree about shrinking the lapels- It'd make your head seem larger if you did.

Did you think about extending the shoulder a little?

Re: For your consideration

Haven't read all the posts yet, but here are my thoughts:

Some good efforts Mafoofan. With the first pic, l would have liked to have seen some khaki colour used instead of grey pants. The shade of grey looks off..but that is probably not helped by the camera or the colour shoes worn with them.

The most recent pic is the best.

l still think you are well ahead of most when it comes to style. With dilligence and time, i'm sure you will be a master one day.

Congrats on your new job too.

Mafoofan, on other note, i think your shirt and jacket sleeve lengths are perfect. Many would say they are far too long...  Don't listen to them smile

Re: For your consideration

You definitely have the Neapolitan style nailed.  The cloth the last jacket is made up of is especially sophisticated.

Re: For your consideration

Thanks everybody. I'm not sure I understand the comments about the irregularity of the shoulder--they are unpadded, so maybe it's the 'Neapolitan'-ness of it that is rubbing you guys the wrong way? On the other hand, I'd certainly like to know if something is wrong with the execution in that scope.

I'm suprised nobody's said anything about drape. I was half-expecting to be crucified smile.

Re: For your consideration

I think you have great style and poise -in the Uk we have a comedian who I also think has great style although probably doesn`t wear the clothes with the same panache as yourself- although he is always rather dapper.

His name is Ronnie Corbett - do a google image search and there are dozens of images of his style.

Re: For your consideration

I like the first jacket the best and agree with Cruz, the single button approach definitely works on jackets with open quarters. I have more or less given up on two button jackets now and go for either one or three buttons on single breasted jackets. Any lumps and bumps aside the unpadded shoulders work for you because unlike a lot of people you have fairly square shoulders so you avoid the ski slope effect. The trouser length varies a bit :-)

It would be interesting to see what the back looks like because that's often where the drape cut has problems.

Love the double breasted number; nice collar. Who's the maker?

Re: For your consideration

Superb-looking grey suit!  Shoulders look fine this time, so, maybe it's the lighting in the other pics that plays tricks on the shoulders.  You wear it well.

Re: For your consideration

Nice suits all, Mafoofan, you seem well on your way to developing your own interpretation of stile napoletano(?). I feel though, that the single breasted model suits your physique better than the double breasted, but, that said it's a lovely looking suit, I especially like the lapels. The cloth by the way looks like a flannel.

P.S. Belated congratulations on your recent wedding and good luck with your new career.

Mafoofan

I'm really feeling your modern interpretation of classic combinations. Particularly, the SB and DB garments are inspirational examples of refined taste

Re: For your consideration

More great style!  Enjoy your threads.  Since you are amenable to well-intended feedback, I notice your shirt collar has some crumpling on the sides.  I'm not sure if this is Neapolitan-ness or an issue with fit or construction, but, in any case, it caught my eye.  Also, the right side of the coats appear to be a tad longer than the left side.
