Re: Tie article

Happy to say that FNB had a presence at the Cheltenham festival this year as I was there via old BBC chums.
There's a Jazz connection to the festival too so it wasn't all schmoozing.
I didn't wear a tie, but I was up in Montpellier selling... myself mainly, with Talk Ivy, 'Ivy Style', Modculture & AAAT used as props.

- A bit of a laugh.

True about the tie not being right for the gig - I was in Cord & Shetland mode, but the winning outfit was an English cut Tweed jacket, beaten up Blue jeans & Suede chukkas. An open necked English collared shirt, usually blue or some nice stripe went underneath. Pocket squares were rare & hair was longer than I'd have  liked, draped over shirt collars at the back in most cases. Grooming wsn't too bad with stubble being reserved for the young & aspiring or the old & aspiring. The hot were pretty clean & playing with a fusion of writerly Tweed & Rock 'n' Roll stereotypes.
The 'All in Black' look which haunts these things was little in evidence this time round, unlike the Edinburgh fringe last year where it still holds on. Maybe that's some kind of difference betwen the performing arts & writers?
