Contrast collar shirts - your impressions.

What do you think of them? Where are they most appropiate, and what messages do you think they send out?

Re: Contrast collar shirts - your impressions.

Originally they were to increase the use of shirt bodies by using new collars and cuffs.
Then they became sort of a thrifty thing to do with especially old, favorite shirts, then they became like a symbol of the 80s. Seems in the nineties they were a way for New Yorkers to wear crazy English shirtings and make them correct for bidnez. Today that's not necessarily bc anything goes at the office.

They look good on some people and if you like them wear them. I dont mind one or two but generally, unless the style really suits you, I get a little irritated with men who make this their signature.

lt's a F*CK YOU shirt. lt reminds me of a shirt that an English aristocrat would wear, so yes, it does take guts to wear it. You only wear it when you feel king of the world. When l first saw the fabric, l knew l was gonna be naughty and play by no-ones rules. When you wear that shirt, you do what you want! smile

Film Noir Buff:  l can see how that could work really well. l notice you seem to have a liking for shirts with white, pink and blue combined; any reason for this?

Pity l couldn't see a better pic of it. ls it white under the collar and white inside the collar like Marc's?

Re: Contrast collar shirts - your impressions.

I have several contrast (collar and cuffs) shirts with (ahem) matching boxer shorts - always a challenge for hot and inebriated ladies!

Re: Contrast collar shirts - your impressions.

I've had a few over the years and like them generally. I usually don't go for white for the collar but cream. I've been looking into shirts where the body is a check and the collar is a stripe with the same colorway- I know some mills still make sets of shirtings so you can do this. Could be cool cool
