I'm liking J.Crew's old school flannel shirts, complete with the authentic label reminiscent of a time when "dry goods" were proudly made in America of the best materials and workmanship. It's all illusory, of course, but, kudos to Crew for reviving a great tradition, albeit, at a price as hefty as flannel, itself, maybe even heftier.

Yes, J Crew is moving in a much better direction these days. There was a time when the only thing I ever routinely went to J Crew for were the casual socks, the chinos, and merino v-neck sweaters. However, their OCBD makes a great shirt for casual wear, and their corduroy trousers are particularly nice (of course, one needs to recognize that most of their clothes still fall into the category of disposable, but then at those prices, one cannot really expect more) for fall and winter. This is almost tempting:

And I don't know how one could go wrong with this:

Noted that J Crew is sporting some minimalist breaks:

Might it convince the populace to finally abandon the much beloved puddling of fabric about one's ankles look? Methinks not.
Nice find, Rotten, with the topcoat. I've been looking around for a coat like that for a little while now.
J Crew merino v-necks are one of my winter staples.. It never truly gets cold enough in the south to wear the heavier sweaters I used to love wearing when I still lived in New England, so these allow me to have the look of a sweater without being uncomfortably warm. Yeah, the quality is not great, but at around $65 each, I have over a dozen in various colors, and they hold up remarkably well. I also bought a very nice, simple, sterling tie bar as well fit my needs perfectly. J Crew is a way for me to indulge my inner LL Bean, New Hampshire yankee style, without the awful fits and coarse fabrics that seem to populate LL Bean these days.
No such thing as a "Curragh" tartan. It's Gordon on meth.
D'y'all wear odd jackets two inches too short?
