Wow, very daring. I like it very much though, as the end result looks very good in my mind's eye. Are you thinking of making the lapels a solid color or same material?
Very daring, very regal and very dandy. l've seen an old pic with a similar pattern used.

Smart, and in fact much nicer than traditional boating blazers. With my ever-whitening temples I'd switch the gold stripes for silver and take a jacket made up of that material in a heartbeat.
Any plans re. fancy piping/buttons on the jacket?
Hmm, Im actually surprised that I am not getting negative reactions considering the fabric is bold.
Fancy lapels, solid lapels, fancy buttons? Please explain.
I was actually thinking of this as either SB one button notch or with with peak or three button notch.
You could even wear an all cashmere version of the traditional tennis sweater vest in updated colors with a royal oxford button down shirt underneath, light grey flannels and brown suede penny loafers.
Single button notch would be my sweet spot, peak would just be too much of a good thing...
As a coat, no. For that material I would suggest an odd vest.
Trust me I have to justify getting this made myself. Even Dandies are under considerable economic stress in this period of history.
I was thinking solid.
I hadn't thought of a purple red; I was thinking more scarlet. Now that you mention it though, a purple red might be a bit more in harmony with the main body.
Harrisons has a large self paisley in a purple-red which has a "shot" effect; as you tilt the fabric it has a now you see the pattern, now you don't. - think I might put the yellow version into a navy suit.
Now Im thinking I might do this jacket in a sort of "Pea Coat" cut with two Hermes Scarves as lining.
