Well there's at least one of His policy statements I can get behind.  I admire the way he tells it like it is to the black community, even when it earns the ire of other black leaders and threats to cut his balls off from the Rev. Jesse Jackson.  It ran the risk of costing Him votes, but He felt it was the right message to get across, and took that risk.  Many other leaders would have pandered instead.

I think TV was referring to that odd street gang that follows the principles of 19th century liberalism, and demonstrates their devotion to the cause with saggy Dickies.. wink

Actually black bangers snatched the baggie look whole from white surfers.   It was very common in So Cal in the 60s and 70s to see a surfer with Levis or Levi cords hanging below his ass, with his boxers six inches above the waistband.   The Timberland look was also a borrowing from surfers, who often wore Sears Roebuck construction boots with their Levis.  For that matter, the Pendleton shirt was another borrowwing, even buttoning it up to the neck.  The Crips and Bloods added their inimitable touches, but the whole look started in Huntingon, Newport, San Pedro, San Clemente, and La Jolla.

I thought the baggy pants look originated in prison since the youthful prisoners were denied belts so they couldn't use them as garrottes, whips or hangman's nooses.
