well, not the book
but Japanese uber brand Flathead (known for their amazing line of selvedge jeans and western styled shirts) is supposedly making the pieces that are worn in Take Ivy
this is from Kiya, who owns Self Edge in San Francisco, and is one of the only (if not the only) full scaled FlatHead retailers in the USA
"You guys won't believe this...
Flat Head has a new line which i'm going to see in Tokyo next week that debuts in January, it's called Ivy Style.
The entire line is based off Take Ivy, the book..."
he said he's going to be taking photos when he is in Japan to see it

Holy carp, I wonder if we had any influence on this? It's a good thing all the same. I wish Japan stuff was more available over here.
The Flathead Take Ivy stuff should be easily avail via SelfEdge (www.selfedge.com) as Kiya will be sure to carry it
I wonder if they'll do a proper pair of penny loafers?
Can't see the point in any of it.

Retro. Parody. Pastiche. Call it what you will, it can begin to tip over. I won't pay £160 for a crappy Baracuta made in wherever when I can pick up a 1950s Drizzler for a couple of quid. It'll be like Rickson - for trendy lads. I'm too old.
Organic. Choice word, Horace, for which I thank you. Ivy as a living thing.
I have to confess, I have a problem with the Japanese. Reminds me of photographs I've seen of their rockabilly types with massive quiffs. Just can't connect with it at all. Pastiche.
What you're saying is vital, Jim. I don't suppose any of us belong to a crew these days, so individuality rules.
^^^^^^ A fantastic post by Horace.

honestly I doubt *we* (as this forum or any forum) had anything to do with Flathead doing a "take ivy" line. The Ivy subculture seems to have its own "nakama" back in Japan (look at sites like Van that cater). I remember when Claudio (of DNA Groove) went to Tokyo he had happened upon a copy that was in a store, and he'd never heard of it before but was quite taken by it, to where he wanted a copy himself but found out that is near impossible.
Whatever Flathead decides to make, I'm pretty sure you can count on the quality being top notch (probably far better than the original garments) and every attention to detail correct for "authenticity" sake
I wonder if I've created the wrong impression?
I agree with Jason - We only rule Ivy in the West on the Net.
Japan is way ahead of us, albeit with their own slant on it all.
Jason, as soon as you know something please post it. For all my bitching and complaining I still want to see how this is realized.
