i've thrifted me some black wool pants and have got to thinking on how to wear them best
A new Paul Winston or vintage Chipp Blazer with a lining made from strips of 1920's Polka Dot Snuff Handkerchiefs?
A recreation and reinterpretation of the Troy Shirtmakers Guild "OCBD" of 1964 by Paris Shirtmakers?
Fairmount 'Ancient' Cordovan Penny Loafers with Bottle Green Burlington hose?
- Or I will sell them to you esteemed gents instead - $8 - Don't sniff the crotch.
(Serious offers only please)
Lord Tradmondsworth of Tradly Park, Glos.
I'd wear them with a light-colored tweed jacket-or not at all.
I'd wear them with a lighter grey herringbone tweed, or a nice salt n' pepper fleck. Probably with a simple white or blue OCBD and a black knit tie. Go for monochrome. Personally I have nothing against black, regardless of what the curriculum says. Just wear black shoes.
Surely you can wear them with any trousers, apart from very light coloured ones where they might shine through. They'd be too itchy for me, though.

But seriously (now, though); you could probably wear them with anything and they'd look, well, OK. I've got a pair of almost-black cords I keep meaning to get around to wear, but never do (dark green sounds promising now that you say it, I'll press those cords into service with my upcoming 'Dartmouth Green' blazer).
Better than navy slacks, which never seem to look well with anything much.
