Sunny day here, so how about:
The Worm in the Apple.
The Lowboy.
The Children.
The Fourth Alarm.
Ray-Bans, Madras sun hat, White T., Chino shorts, Gin & Rose's Lime juice.
(For Coolidge)
Chip in if you have a favourite bit of Cheever...
"Reunion"
"? My Brother"

Ahhh, thanks..I knew it had some preface but I just couldn't remember it.
Appropriate for summer, and one of Cheever's best: "The Swimmer".
How about the novels?
I'm going to pick Bullet Park.
Auchincloss is best for short stories (when he's on form). 'Skinny Island' is a nice way in. He's very hit & miss tho' & he repeats the same material quite a bit. Bless him. I do the same myself.
