I *knew* it was you.
Hehe, yep. I thought the gents over here might have a different perspective than those over at the styleforum SW&D board.
I definitely like the slim-cut cardigans and plain grey sweatshirts ideas. Don't really love the Guernseys, although I'm somewhat interested in more fine-guage fair isle sweaters. I've got a G9, although it's a bit big on me. I'll definitely look for some argyle socks at Brooks Brothers and Paul Stuart here in Chicago.
Any recommendations for plain grey sweatshirts that would fit well on skinny folks with scrawny arms?
Thanks again,
wmmk

^ I second that & the mention of Brother Jesmond too.
Get Smart (Jason) is well worth checking out also for a subcultural inspired edge.

Americana.
Alex, I just read through that thread. A lot of it doesn't quite pertain to dressing for high school, but I did get a gist of what Ivy Style means today. The comments on buttondown collar roll were also interesting. I'll be on the lookout for collars with nice rolls.
Russell, I've definitely seen a lot of Jason's stuff over on styleforum. He's easily one of the most consitently steezy posters over there. With that said, I could probably pull off the Fred Perry ginghams, but certainly couldn't see myself in Doc Martens.
Anyhow, I like the sound of what you're wearing today, although that's also the kind of thing I don't know if I'd pull off well. I
I don't know if this makes sense, but the kind of "Ivy style" in trying to emulate and modify would channel much more Columbia/Harvard/Yale than Princeton/Dartmouth/Cornell.
Please excuse my ignorance, but I didn't realize Columbia/Harvard/Yale could be seen as having more urban style than Princeton, etc. I would say that you could pick up some pieces from a mainstream brand like J.Crew and add your personality to the mix. I also think Gant, Original Penguin, Band of Brothers, Michael Bastian, and Rugby may offer you some influence (or at least their styling).
