Hi ILG.
The now largely obscure Clarks `Desert Khan` appears to have been one of the old Ivy style staples on campuses in the USA back in the day (late fifties /early sixties).
I`ve seen an old b&w advert pic from the archival online MIT newspaper from the late 50`s (OR early sixties) and the pic featured the classic Clarks desert boot beside the Clarks suede shoe model- labelled the `Desert Khan`.
^ I've seen the same, thanks to Jesmond & now you.
We live in a bigger world than some can stand!
Best -
I kept that picture because it answered a question I'd had for years: is this Desert Khan a reproduction or a "made up took look retro" shoe?
Turns out it's an oldie indeed.
The brown ones pictured have had an earlier release about 5 years ago.
Nice shoe.
You lives & learns eh? I wasn't even aware that Clarks had previously made the Desert style Khan shoe before. I thought this was a new development of theirs.
The detail around the laces is slightly different on the newer version. I also think suede would be the only material that I would wear them in. Those old style Khans in leather look a tad "Geography Teacher" to me.
How come their only available in Japan at the moment? I thought Clarks were British?
