DYING FETUS plays the classic song `Kill Your Mother, Rape Your Dog' (silly song title, but still.....). Not an 80's band, but started not long after. One of my all time favourite bands ever!!!

Japanese `Trad` ...?
When i first saw this video on TOTP whilst still at school i was blown away by it.The next day at school they seemd to have generated a bit of a commotion and excitement because everyone was talking about them and was was taking the piss, calling them `queers` but were at the same time clearly very perplexed by this groups look and presentation. The band may have looked like `queers` (they were apparently all straight in `real life`) and yet it wasn`t actually as simple as that. They seemd to have a very interesting, fresh , audacious and singular style (albeit with homage to earlier Bowie, Roxy, New York Dolls and Andy Warhol) and they really seemd to have a clear sense of their OWN aesthetic and stylistic vision.
I became obsessed by this mysterious band. This band was around at the time of the whole press tagged `New Romantic` thing but for me they always stood apart from it.Looking back now i think the funky English-Cypriot (fretless) bass player was integral to that bands unique creative and aesthetic style.
He was a family friend of an English-Cypriot friend of mine at school and now he is a friend of a friend in the town and the country where i live now.
P.s. When i told this friend how totally obsessed i`d been about this band in my formative years i passed up on the opportunity of being given Mick Karn`s telephone number to call him up , through my own shyness. I`d rather that any contact or meeting with an adolescent hero of mine would occur `naturally`, & certainly without being engineered by a `fan` (that is indeed if i DO ever get to see him around town...).
