That's fucking horrible. I feel very sympathetic, Shooey. I suppose you must now travel to London or HK or somewhere, and buy a dozen pairs of shoos, in proper brands. I can only hope OZ is somehwo a unique market and this cancer doesn't spread too far. I have already decided to spend what little "discretionary" money I have on good shoos this year, just in case, even if I don't wear them right away. Can't take the chance that New York beocmes the only place to buy good shoos over here.

R.M.Williams even have leather sole shoos for dogs.
R.M.William's top boot (Ostrich, Croc, Emu) goes for 8.5K. Top quality exotic uppers; but the usual average construction, welt, and leather sole. A $8,500 boot usuing top quality exotics, but an average `goodyear' construction and a crap (easy wearing) leather sole and fully rubber capped heal.
