Are your pals well dressed ?
Mine are not for the most part. One is old school and always wears a nice dark suit, polished shoes etc. for work; decent jackets for other times - but for the most part they are not clothes-minded. Those that are will go down the designer rubbish route.
I would not be that clothes-minded either, except that the High Street let me down. When you cannot buy leather shoes and cargo pants are the order of the day you do start to look around.
Does your question include my fora friends? LOL. For the most part, clothes are "immaterial" to my friends, who I think represent most American men. I really need to replace them, which is prolly what they are saying about me, too.
I'd say my friends dressed well & my acquaintances did not. My family is allowed to do what they like.
Some of my friends dress well in terms of choosing appropriate and decent quality. Mostly, it is women who dress well and why they do it, is anyone's guess.
By and large, my friends are indifferent to clothing though they can pull it together if they need to.

Most of my friends I keep in touch with by telephone or e-mail. I hardly ever see them or pal around with them in person. Some of this is due to the geographic dispersal we have in Southern California. For instance, one of my oldest friends from prep school days I talk to frequently, but he lives about 75 miles from me, which makes getting together difficult.
Some of my friends are adequate dressers, some are or were horrible slob dressers. I added the past tense because one of my very closest friends cashed in his chips about three years ago. I think even Cruiser would have blanched at the slobbiness his apparel. None of my non-forum friends could be considered any sort of a clothes horse, however. One exception would be Garry James, known to American TV viewers as a frequent commentator on "gunny" matters. He can be quite the elegante.
