White tie,, turn down collar,, notched lapel, tux/suit?  Not the change,, we wanted, no?

And perchance,, some dance lessons, now?

Joe Biden was the sharpest of the top-dogs there, yet he was still below Prince Charles level

Re: Worst dressed president?

The new President and First Lady were both badly dressed throughout the inauguration, parade and appearances at the various balls. No question about it! No leader of a civilised country appears at a ball in what looked like a rental tux with a badly knotted white bow tie. No wife of a president ever appeared in a more atrocious lime-yellow ensemble suitable for spring, not winter--for crissakes!--followed by a rumpled off-the-shoulder white disaster that needed a good steaming, not to mention a more flattering design that played down her big butt and stomach. Equally inappropriate was the new Vice President wearing a black bow tie with an ill-fitting wing-collared shirt that made him look like a Bulgarian headwaiter. At least Biden's wife had a modicum of style throughout the day and night festivities.

I suppose the new administration has much more important things on its mind than being properly dressed. Time was there were people around the First Family who could who could help them dress properly and teach them to dance as well as make a graceful entrance and exit from a state dinner or a dance. I'm not talking about Hollywood stylists, none of whom are worth a good goddam, but butlers and tailors and dressmakers and practitioners of the long forgotten art of etiquette who could guide newcomers. Well, at least the Obama daughters
were smartly turned out. Here's hoping some of that tasteful style will rub off on the parents and the other bright minds in the new administration.

Re: Worst dressed president?

They had some female designer, and that guy from "Project Runway" discussing Ms. Obama's fashion and they were fawning over her.

I think the President doesnt care much about clothes. That Inauguration ball outfit was a disaster but if he pointed to his tux and said huah, how many men do you think would run out and copy him?

Also, I was in a quality clothing store discussing the President's clothes. I was talking to a salesman about how Obama isnt  particularly well dressed and a female clerk butted in saying she disagreed. It was clear she disagreed because she liked him which is at the core of the modern American experience for clothing/style/beauty. If someone likes you here you can do no wrong.
