A vivid example of why free advice on style found on the fora is worth every cent...
http://www.styleforum.net/showpost.php?p=1730184&postcount=393

The wrong-headed advice that "drape" is a flattering cut for "skinny" men couldn't be more ill-advised---As misguided as his advice that high shoulder pads make a short man appear taller.  Pure nonsense.  A skinny man in a drape suit ends up really looking like a skinny man wearing a sloppy, ill-fitting suit.  People, for the most part, are not fooled by such distractions.  Indeed, a suit with excess cloth ends up calling attention to it for its lousy fit.  To borrow from Cruz, why not just buy a suit 2x your normal size at Mens Wearhouse, which, basically, achieves the same result?  A skinny man would be most flattered and, in the end, best served by a well-balanced, well-tailored jacket made by a skilled tailor who really is proficient in balance.  Trickery really doesn't work.

Re: New Improved Inane Post of the Day Thread (50% More Snark)

For me. the problem with the 'drape' is that it looks so old fashioned, it has a dull, amorphous look to my eye. I simply cannot see how tailoring that makes a slim man look more corpulent than he is, is in anyway flattering, and that is the first duty of the tailor, to flatter the client.

The drape cut may work for some, but I think it's a small minority.
