Question for people like Moose who have the 3r2, patch pocket, hook vent stuff.
I have never looked in J Simons for jackets. I got the impression that they would not have a jacket like that though they might have natural shoulder stuff.
That would leave trips to US cities with the right stores, made to measure, or US ebay (with all the customs malarkey that entails).
I just got one off eBay... if the goods are used import taxes do not apply (in the Netherlands that is).

Sadly import duties do apply to secondhand clothes in the UK and I 've been stung by the surcharge and the post office handling fees several times. You can query the charge with Customs & Excise but you need both great tenacity and the patience of a saint! The guy in my local post office depot has begun to feel sorry for me when I hand over my cash to him so that he can hand over my parcel. Off the top fo my head I'm not sure of the threshold value after which you get charged. When buying online from a 'store' (as opposed to Ebay) I find better to order little and often thus going under the customs radar.

I believe import duty is only payable on items with a value of over £18 written on the customs slip. If purchasing a more expensive item on ebay, you could ask the seller to put on a value lower than this.

Or get a nice US Cat to buy it for you & send it to you as a 'Gift' (But sometimes even that doesn't work).
Crappy packaging works, I've found. Not badly packed, just a generic box with tape everywhere and a handwritten addy.
Found off-the-peg Brooks 'boys' sack blazers yesterday at Liberty in London's west end: sewn into, underneath and around electric blue windsheeters in the Junya Watanabe collection. If you wish to pay a grand for an eight-year-old's school blazer and are a dab hand with shears and a pair of tweezers this could be the jacket for you.
I don't know if this has been discussed on the board but JW's current collection features many staples of classic Americana given a not-so-subtle twist: Levi's, Brooks, seersucker, white bucks etc. Very interesting for the more adventurous dresser possibly.
On the subject of sack coats in the UK I think the problem is not so much in sourcing them (the internet has been very useful in this regard), but rather finding a dry cleaner who understands pressing a rolled lapel. Despite repeated and hopefully explicit communication my blazers and jackets always seem to return pressed as true three-button jackets. Infuriating and demoralising particularly when I pin notes saying 'press as a two-button jacket', 'top button rolls underneath lapel' and every possible permutation thereof in order to try to successfully get the point across. Does anyone have the details of a shop in London that can get this right? It would be much appreciated.
