What tie knot do you prefer?

l've always liked the four-in-hand. l like the off beat imperfect look to the look. l loathe the Windsor knot in most cases. l've always liked a small to medium tie knot. As for dimples...l couldn't give two hoots; it takes too long sometimes to get a great looking dimple and it's not worth running late for getting the perfect look.

l'm really starting to like ties again, l even wore one with jeans the other day.

Four-in-hand exclusively. If I am wearing a spread collar, I just don't tie the knot as tightly, allowing it to fill the collar space better.

Mix-n-match. Mostly four-in-hand, sometimes half Windsor. Depends on the tie, collar and mood.

Mostly 4-in-hand with one more loop, otherwise some version of a half-windsor, and with knitted ties, a simple 4-in-hand.

Four in hand. I can appreciate another sort of knot on someone else but I really only use four in hand.

4-in-hand.  I can appreciate other knots, but the cognoscenti seem to tie them because they can.

Four-in-hand is the only kind I know, though I will add an extra loop if the tie is thinnish

Four in hand. Half-Windsor if it's a vintage tie and spread collar, since it produces a much smaller knot than with a modern tie.

The reason I ask is http://ethandesu.blogspot.com/2008/08/double-four-in-hand.html

His knot looks great but I've only got one tie where I can do it without the two loops showing.

FIH for me. I own mostly thicker ties and I do not like a huge knot.

Re: What tie knot do you prefer?

A sound approach JDelage. The first knot I learned was the FIH. Later, when I started reading up on this stuff, I made a self-conscious effort to learn the half- and full-windsor. After wearing that for a while and being kind of annoyed w/ how short the knot can be, I rethought and now agree that the FIH's casualness is much less fussy and looks better anyway.

I still occasionally wear half-windors w/ spread collar, especially when I am wearing a thinner tie. It doesn't create the ridiculous bulk then.

FIH for me. I am tall and very long-bodied. If I use a knot involving more tie length, e.g., windsor, the tie is likely to end up short of my belt buckle.
