I think Sator touched on something interesting that the suit was made specifically for the Duke. I think the Duke wanted a suit that no one else had for purposes of exclusivity. The fact that the Drape suit was more difficult to arrange and wear was good for someone who basically only worried about personal appearances.

Now, Americans liked the Duke and they wanted the drape suit replicated. However the drape suit is hard to understand and make. Doubtless you've seen some of the controversy over what the drape suit truly is? Well, that may have been Scholte's intention and the drape became the bane of other tailors who did it wrong. Add to that, the fact that the suit was designed specifically for the Duke and his stature/ build and you can see why the Drape suit disappeared quickly.

Enter FLusser. He liked the drape suit, no one else was making it. Voila! Instant cachet. The Drape was also good on him as a marketing tool because, like the Duke, all Flusser did was walk around looking good.

The drape suit was good for the Duke of Windsor but he never felt the need to defend it vehemently.

Isn't Whnay on S.F having something made at A&S? Hopefully, he'll post on here or link so we can read about his experience and look at the finished article(s). He's also a customer of Rubinacci's so a comparison may be in the offing.  Would be an interesting read.
