madras, lots of patch madras
Poplin trousers and suits. Seersucker. Those sort of canvassy short sleeve sport shirts from LL Bean for fishing and farting around.
Chino shorts. Boat shoes. Cotton sweaters and rumpled BDs in the cool evenings (before July).
A happy ginghamy BD from Lands End that is sitting in the wrapper waiting for a warm, sunny, breezy day.
We got what I hope is the last blast of winter yesterday. Another foot of snow, more or less, and it was a cheery 5 degrees F when I arose to greet the day.
I am wearing a bulletproof tweed suit, long johns, sock liners and am heartily sick of it all. Feh.
The boat shoes will be happy to come out of the "not for daily wear" box, which the boots will be returning to.
I am definitely looking forward to fishing and patio season. I'm actually going to have some free time this summer so am very excited about lying back in a folding chair w/ the line dragging out pursuing the elusive and noble catfish.

half-sleves, gingham, madras, polos, chinos, pennies with no socks, boating blazers, linen jackets, linen flat caps, shades, tons of ice cold beer, thin cigars, backyard barbeques, barbeque sauce & beer stains everywhere, soul, jazz, family life, nifgtlife, boating, sauna, fishing, going to footy, getting drunk in the parks. that's about it.
I wore an overcoat over a tweed jacket today. I did not really do that during the cold snap but I liked having all the layers. I am still enjoying coats.
The layering may be a Southern softie thing. I never see tweed jackets as sufficient protection against the worst of the Winter.
I want to cut down some more old trou. into 9" shorts too this year.

Time to look to be sure that the JP seersucker jacket, Bills shorts, and white bucks stored in September are still there.
Anybody remember the BD Baggies Oxford Cloth shorts? JS had them...

Well done, sounds like a nice material too. It's the spitting image of my Brooks poplin suit (well, hopefully larger!).
