Been chatting with Russell St and Decline & Fall also left comments on TheWeejun about the dilemma between wearing your favourite pieces or keeping them for a rainy day?
Russell says he is scared to wear out some of his clothes because they are so hard to replace.
D&F showed real fear that I was opening 40 year old NOS shirts (don't worry I feel the fear too - only opened 3 out of 12!)
Do you wear them or store them?
The Weejun
I have some mint pre-Converse Jack Purcells which I could never bring myself to wear. Occasionally I gingerly open the boxes, inhale deeply and reassure myself that sometimes everything is right in the world.
I sympathise Brother.
Someone over at Andy Land posted once that he had seen original deal dead-stock BB shirts at O'Connell's (http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/showpost.php?p=755091&postcount=3) and I became rather intrigued with the idea of picking some up. That is, until I remembered that BB's modern slim-fit OCDBs are a fit I'm far happier with, other details aside, and dropped the matter. Now dead-stock Sero/Gant shirts is a whole different thing. Staceyboy's amazing vintage ads have really increased my curiosity about Sero and I never rated Gant before due to ignorance.
I do rather obsess with things dying on me; however, I love all my stuff too much to really let it sit in the closet unworn. Perhaps this fear best works itself out in my insistence on buying multiple copies of very similar things, as my closet full of nearly identical white and blue shirts would suggest.
I think you should wear them all but some more than others!
Sero seem a sod to find. I've got one in mid-orange, with half sleeves; comes out on the hottest days with Bill's shorts or some very lightweight khakis and Sebago. Summer is the season for dazzlin'!!
Great colour chetmiles, know it well.
