An update: We have the best lurkers on the Net!
Just been chatting to an old Harvard lurker who links the 'Trads' to 'Creationists' - Top Cat!
The creationist mindset rather than their actual beliefs was his point. All that sticking to the text no matter what.
... And then with Trad you have to look at where their text came from... Trolls trolling a troll on the internet. Hardly Holy writ.

So much good new input coming from this exercise & so many great new people. The number of real Ivy fans out there is very heartening and I hope to see some of you on the forum one day.
A recurring theme has been a very understandable snobbery about the internet & the sort of people it attracts. Not much we can do about that I'm afraid. The medium is what it is. The only helpful thing I can suggest is that if more knowedgeable people post then the general standard will go up. On this site we are very lucky with our membership, other places are less so. The other sites are always of interest but there is a lot of dross to wade through to find what's good... And in a way that can be part of the fun - trying to find that needle in the haystack.
In terms of recommendations I'd direct people to the links on The Weejun's blog and start there. There are more and more blogs out there now all from different points of view and from differently motivated people. Some have some good bits sometimes, some have a rather low batting average. The Wejuns blog & his links are all reliable ones: http://www.theweejun.com/ ("The Weejun Recommends" section).
