JP with another good one. Not totally relevant on this side of the forum, but I think we're all sympathetic to price jumps and the corresponding quality decline of various menswear lines (perhaps this could be the explanation of the arguably premature "DEATH OF J. PRESS!!!!!!" thread--just joking w/ you RS--and angry Fred Perry rumblings).

Very to the point.
I guess with Press all I mean is that the love is gone. Press will carry on & I'll buy bits & bobs there. They were once MY shop (my older chums were real Brooks loyalists), now - Not so much.
I was in Press a couple weeks ago- bought a fall odd trouser & jacket for a steal. Noticed the lapel on the new spring goods didn't look too hot. There is a young sales guy there named LT (Lawrence) that was very cool and helpful.
This is a very inrteresting point and one that the luxury end of the market will be keen to oppose in order , as the article says, to protect the brand image.
Will the public speak by not purchasing, but more importantly will the brands listen?
The public is speaking for sure. Without divulging too much, the clothing brands in the upper stratosphere have been hit the hardest. The guy is perfectly happy to ride this thing out while wearing last year's suit. We all know that there is plenty of margin to spare that the luxury brands simply don't want to let go of. We'll see.
