Top post, Mr. Weejun!

I like them worn and a bit grubby but certainly not soiled. It takes a few months for them to get suitably shabby for my liking and then it's just a couple of years' wear and the sole goes through. I have lost count of the number of Clarks desert boots that I've chucked out because of this, and I'm wearing a pair right now through which I can clearly see my socks. This prompts me to ask whether it's possible to have them re-soled. The uppers are in fine shape, just how I like them, and I'd far rather make do and mend if that's an option. Does anyone - Weejun? - know if it's possible, and if so at what sort of cost?
That ad's amazing. It's like a contest of offensive shoes.
Haha "personality shoes" ...
These fascinated me when I first saw laid eyes them, or rather the similar retro models circa 1980. Curious shoes... and I've always been curious to see some older models pictured. 1950s "pulp" footwear isn't it? Fantastic to see, too fantastic to wear.
Absolutely! I've heard of some these styles but never seen an original ad depicting them in all their gaudy glory. Quite surreal! Thanks Weejun, you've unearthed a strange treasure there.

Note that none of them came in Black, Black Suede and not even Blue Suede!
I almost feel like they can't be real, as though they're the vision of some crazed, detail-obsessed fashion designer. If anyone can find pics of some of these style offenders, please post.
