Re: Groovin' at the I Spot -

Wow, it's strange how strong my tendency is to go off topic...

I've managed to get a thread about music as a sticky in a Sartorial style forum, and then I post about cars in this very same thread...

you don't think I'm a motorhead, please!

You know I'm tempted to bring this thread back to music at your mention of the word moterhead, but I fear it may get me kicked off the forum.

Re: Groovin' at the I Spot -

I had this video of Chuck when I was a kid. Some big all star concert with Keith Richards acting as bandleader. It's kind of funny watching him yell at Keith for playing his songs wrong..Actually it looks like that's on youtube as well...even further past his prime...

Re: Groovin' at the I Spot -

Thanks, HBH. Cool find. I was 15 when I incurred the wrist injury. I ended up getting pretty good at it. I own some pretty weird surf albums as well, Glad to see I'm not the only surf fan. I have one by these guys

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_mptINQYos

There is a little comic strip inside about a young rock fan wanting to look like a hippie. The day is saved however when it's pointed out that you can look like the Challengers and still rock out.. Truly bizarre.

What's up with the site, Weejun? I'm hoping it's only temporarily down.

The Weejun is fine. He's chilling offline in great style just now.

He did a lot very quickly and is now just pausing to regroup & balance his day job with his passion for Ivy. After being so full-on for a spell he just needs to do some other stuff for a bit to catch up with life.

Sensible chap.

Re: Groovin' at the I Spot -

Some more Monks, for Andrew:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3fAzQzgeSc

The Monks - Oh, How to Do Now

Did you see the documentary about these guys? They were American GIs, and they had a very amitious management, Karl Remy and Walther Niemann, art/design students who were influenced by minimalism, and they turned these guys, formerly known as the 5 Torquays into "the Monks"- a new sound, a new look, and a new image... kind of anti-Beatles....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Monks

They almost made the soundtrack to this "afri-cola" tv spot, but the producer chose this avant garde music instead:
