"Nowstalgia" -

3ButtonMax's very descriptive term as seen here & elsewhere:

A very useful addition I think and one which really sums up that whole business of those would-be Traditionalists who don't know the Tradition & don't even bother to learn.

Re: "Nowstalgia" -

Again from my motor-mouth habits whilst out & about yesterday I found that this concept of 'Nowstalgia' seems to  strike a chord with most people. Hacket, RL & all those 'BritPrep' brands found themselves in the firing line yesterday as I sipped my coffee & waved my hands around a lot.

Boden, Joules, Crew Clothing, Jack Wills, Cath Kidson - The list of names went on & on.

All brand new brands playing the "Remember when...?" game. Fine for what they are, but companies with very shallow roots.

Interesting?

In the US this would really equate to 3Button Max's comment above. 'Nowstalgia' is nothing much to do with the past at all.

nowstalgia .although a touch cheeky, has enabled 'fake traditions  and  perhaps even a certain historical revisionism.
