No sense in taking half measures. Go full bore.
Buy the shoes.

I think you'll be happy with the shoes. I love my Kielmans and I had a great time when I visited them. The shop has some history indeed. If you have time, ask them to show you the workrooms, great people.

Not too sure about those colours, but a very nice longwing nevertheless.
OK Shooey. I have two pairs of of Kielmans.
First of, the triple stitch in in the longwing is HUGE. Be ready for a massive shoe. I know you like that, but still, I think Vass's Budapesters are not a frame of reference.
Secondly, one of my pairs is a full brogue in the chocolate brown of the boot's cap and heel: it is Austrian Calf, very supple, but a very dull, unnuanced brown. It takes very well to wax, but it does not aqcuire a patina over time (I have had the shoes since 2001).
Finally, I have seen the actual boots in the store a few months back and the red is a light, crackly, super-supple leather that's a bit orangey in hue.
I love spectators but for some reason I can't altogether articulate (maybe it's just because they're non-traditional) burgundy and white spectators just look a tad costumey to me--like something a swing dancer would wear.
