A couple of years ago I bought a lot of gear for re-sale: Fred Perry jumpers, slacks, and most off all shoes. All the loafers went quickly (although no one seemed that keen on Dexter - Bass were really what sold well), and a pair of lovely Walkover (too small for me) were Ebayed back to their country of origin.
There was also, however, a pair of black wingtips 'Made for J.Simons'. I've just had them out and buffed them. Anyone know how many pairs were made, and whether contemporary 'J.Simons' clothing exists? (I'm not talking about anything before around 1970, by the way).
All information would be gratefully received.
I recall some soft brown leather boots like the kind that Bass used to do in the window once. Made I think in France for JS.
Also 'Our Penny' loafers is a name which has come up before from JS. Brideshead had a pair of them. Were they also made for JS?
The "Geoffrey Scott" OCBD! 100% cotton, made in the USA - I only ever saw them in JS & The Ivy Shop. Did JS have them made? No American has ever mentioned them or known about them when asked. They were the 'entry level' US made OCBD at JS I'd say. Next came Sero and then there was Troy.
Interesting...
Yes, that's certainly interesting about 'Geoffrey Scott', RS. Ebay gets you nowhere, that's for sure, whereas Lion of Troy, Troy Guild, Sero, Gordon will all produce results from time to time.
Nothing to do with JS... but I have that same feeling about a "Georgie Barrow, New York" tab collar shirt... No information, whatsoever... and the outfitter where I got it doesn't recall....
Sometimes you just want to have some more information....
